Choosing a reliable storage company when downsizing

I downsized from a 2-bed in JLT to a smaller place in Barsha last year, and storage became the only way to stay sane for a couple of months.
First, I tried the usual shortcut and asked my mover to keep a few things in their warehouse. Bad idea. The price changed after pickup, access was a hassle, and I had to call three times just to get my boxes back. After that I decided I wanted a proper storage company, with a clear monthly rate and actual inventory.
What worked for me was being picky about the basics:
fixed monthly price easy access hours* pickup and return that they actually stick to* no weird extra charge for tape, wrapping, or stairs
I ended up using cheap storage Dubai for the overflow stuff, mostly books, kitchen items, and one armchair I could not fit anywhere. Not perfect, but much smoother than the mover's warehouse setup. The main thing was that they gave me a straightforward quote and did not keep changing it.
A small side note, if you're downsizing in Dubai, it also helps to keep an eye on local rental and moving trends. I used to check Time Out Dubai just to get a feel for different areas and how people were shifting around the city.
My advice: do a short trial with non-essential stuff first. If the process feels messy, do not trust them with the rest of your home.
